Staying in Nerja

“The nice thing about Nerja is that it’s a real place and not just a tourist trap.”

– Wendy Trueman, Guest at 3L

“Friendly helpful people, an excellent variety of restaurants, interesting shops and of course lots of the most delicious ‘helado’.”

– The Spence Family, Guest at 3L

A town of 21,000 that escaped the high-rise overdevelopment of other places on the Costa del Sol, Nerja has deep roots. Tens of thousands of years ago, prehistoric humans left paintings of seals in nearby caves that are some of the earliest known art ever made.

Though fewer in recent decades, fishermen still ply the sea in wooden boats, as did Phoenecians, Greeks, and Moors before them. Many winding streets and whitewashed buildings are still shaped by architectural decisions made hundreds of years ago.
